Mandrakes

Laying sprawled over an open field,
I gaze longingly at the heavens
above.
The voluptuous stormclouds of spring hang pregnant
overhead, ready to burst
forth new life into the soil
beneath me.
The gentle April breeze caresses
my naked body softly.
The grass playfully tickles me
from neck to knee.
Then, suddenly,
euphorically,
the thunderheads burst open
releasing life back into the earth.
